Powell River

big ol'dog

Just got back from Powell River, we had a very relaxing weekend that involved a 30km trail run/hike on the Sunshine Coast Trail and I can barely walk today! While I was there I managed to do a bit of thrift shopping (of course) and art buying, so with the stuff I mentioned before the weekend I have a lot to post about and catch up on! In the meantime, here are a few shots from our trip. There are hummingbirds everywhere up there. Also, our hosts let us know we were lucky to spot two otters mating in the ocean shallows in front of their house - a once a year occurrence.

Hi,
Glad you had a good weekend up here in Powell River. Friday afternoon and most of Saturday sure had great weather for you to tour the area. It is beautiful when the sun shines.

We fell in love with the area on a camping trip during a sunny weekend and ended up moving here from the West End a number of years ago and love it. Lots of hiking trails to hike or bike on with barely another soul around.

Which part of the Sunshine Coast Trail did you run on? Must have been quite the run no matter which part.

To see more of the area check out one of my websites which has hundreds of videos from the Powell River area. Some are mine (including hummingbirds at Saltery Bay) and most are other peoples. More beautiful scenery to see. Check it out at http://www.powellriversunshinecoast.com

Hope you have a good week back in the city.

Cheers,
Robin

I've spent quite a bit of time up there over the past few years and I really love the area too! We did the Marathon Shuffle and the course goes on the section of trail from Malaspina to the Shingle Mill at the bottom of Scout Mtn. It was a loooong way, but we had lots of fun doing it. Thanks for sharing the pics!

Breathtaking shots, particularily the humming birds, :-) You have a lot of talent for picture taking.

I can't take all the credit! The Powell River shots were actually all taken by my boyfriend, who's a camera pro and has the patience to sit diligently by a hummingbird feeder for 30 minutes to get a good shot. ;)

Hey,

Doing that trail is one heck of a way to spend a day on the coast. Good on ya'. At least you had a great day to do it.

Another group that organized a big walk up here on Sunday got rained out. I doubt many people showed up for it.

Congratulations on completing the race. I've wanted to do it for a long time but just haven't gotten around to it. I usually just go hiking with my wife on one of the trails. We hardly ever run into anybody else. One of the joys of being up here. Although, we sure miss going to Hon's, Delilah's, seeing movies on the big screen and going for a walk on the seawall.

Tell your boy friend that he takes awesome photos and has a lot of patience. Great shots of the hummingbirds and otters. Never saw otters doing that before! LOL

Have a good week.

Cheers,
Robin
